05 Dec Stick to your healthy routine on holiday!
Want to stick to your healthy routine on holiday?
I’ve got some pretty cool tips that will help you stay motivated and keep pushing to reaching your fitness goals!
- Stay Focused
This is the most important tip. When you travel focused you will be able to face challenges and temptations without letting them ruin your progress and health. Keep your eyes on the result you want for your life, not on the scale or a weight for a specific event. This will help you make decisions that will help you reach these results.
- Stay in a hostel or rent a house, accommodation with self catering
This is always more interesting than staying in a hotel because you can buy or make your own food, which is usually healthier than what is served in hotels. If you have no choice but to stay in a hotel, choose a room with a mini bar so that you can store healthy snacks and fruits.
- Go grocery shopping
The first day of your trip should include a visit to the shops. Make a list of foods that you consume on your meal plan to help guide you whilst you are grocery shopping.
- Do not eat carbs at night!
Go for protein, salad or any foods other than carbohydrates because if you if you consume them just before you sleep, your body will start to relax and go into a slower metabolism. Rather eat carbs during the day as they can be used as a source of energy.
- Limit alcohol
Limit alcoholic beverages and try drinking more water, tea, natural juices and coconut water.
- Get daily physical activity
This is the easiest and most difficult tip. Everyone puts their gym clothes and running shoes in their luggage, always optimistic about walking or running along the beach side, but few put it into practice when they get there. There has to be an effort, even if it’s a 15 minute walk. Try to schedule yourself to wake up early, jog or exercise. Physical activity helps you maintain your weight while you are travelling and relax your mind and body. If the hotel has a gym, enjoy the space.
- Move yourself!
Make as many moves as possible. Instead of using the elevator, use the stairs, instead of cars, walk!
These are just a few simple tips you can follow so that you do not lose focus and come back from holidays upset because you have gained a few kgs. Put all this into practice, but do not forget to make the most of your holiday, after all, vacations are made to be enjoyed!
I will be reposting a few holiday workout videos I made last year to keep you motivated and give you ideas on how to stay active this December!
